Break the itch-scratch cycle and calm stress-related flares. In person in central London or online.
The itch that will not stop, especially at night. Scratching that brings a moment of relief and then makes everything worse. Flares that seem to arrive exactly when life gets stressful. Eczema is exhausting, and it affects your sleep, your mood and your confidence as much as your skin.
Your skin and nervous system are deeply connected, which is why the mind can play a powerful role in calming eczema. Hypnotherapy works alongside your dermatology treatment on two things that make a huge difference: the itch-scratch cycle and the stress that triggers flares.
In a UK hospital dermatology study, adults with severe eczema that had not responded to other treatment showed significant improvement after hypnotherapy, with benefits lasting up to two years in those followed up, and 19 out of 20 children treated improved straight away (Stewart and Thomas, 1995). Hypnotherapy works best alongside your usual skin care and medical treatment.
1. A free 15-minute call. We talk about your eczema and what you want to change.
2. Your first session. We look at your itch and scratch patterns, triggers and sleep, and begin the hypnosis work.
3. A short course of sessions, with recordings and self-hypnosis to use at home, especially at night.
Please continue your prescribed treatments, and see your GP promptly if your skin becomes infected, weeps or is very painful.
I see clients in person at Islington Therapy House, 364 City Road, London EC1V 2PY, about a five-minute walk from Angel station and within easy reach of Old Street, King’s Cross and the City. I also work online via Zoom with clients across London, the rest of the UK and abroad. Online sessions follow exactly the same structure as in-person sessions, and many clients find it easier to relax at home.
